Get back failed payments, and see every month what our emails really added.
When a subscriber's card fails on Stripe, we send short, plain emails with a link to fix it. Start with the free Leak Check: a few totals from your own Stripe Dashboard, checked in your browser, with no access to your account. If your numbers show it would likely pay for itself, we talk, then a 30 day free trial, then $49 a month. Cancel anytime. Every month a proof report compares the invoices we emailed with a random 15% we did not.
The free Leak Check works today. The paid service is not open yet.
Twenty failed invoices in a month. Seventeen get our emails. Three, picked at random, get nothing from us and go through your normal Stripe settings.
- Emailed by us (85%)
- Holdout, no emails from us (15%)
Example numbers, not a customer result. The 40% already includes everything Stripe's retries recovered. Your proof report credits us only with the 20 point gap minus a safety margin for chance, never the 40.
Most recovery numbers include money you would have got anyway
Stripe already retries failed cards. Its recommended setting is 8 tries within 2 weeks, and some of those tries work. So when any recovery tool says "we recovered $2,000 this month", part of that would have come back without it.
That makes it hard to know whether a tool is worth what you pay. We think the fix is to measure, not to argue.
So we keep a control group
Every newly failed invoice is randomly assigned. Most get our emails. A small share, 15% by default, get no emails from us. Stripe keeps retrying both groups exactly as before.
Once every invoice in a month has had 21 days to be paid, we compare how much came back in each group over at least the last 60 days. The difference, minus a safety margin for chance, is what your proof report says our emails added. If they did not clearly beat the holdout, the report says that too, and you can cancel.
Two checks in every proof report
The group check: measured lift
We take the recovery rate of the emailed group, subtract the holdout group's rate, then subtract a safety margin so random luck cannot inflate the result. We multiply what is left by the failed dollars we emailed. If fewer than 20 holdout invoices are available to compare, we cannot measure the lift yet, and the report says so.
The invoice check: evidence
An invoice only counts if the subscriber clicked our link and, within 7 days, paid through the Stripe page we opened: with a new card added within 2 hours of the click, or by completing their bank's confirmation (3D Secure). A payment from Stripe's automatic retry on the old card never counts.
The report credits us with the smaller of the two amounts and sets it next to your $49 plan. The price never depends on these numbers. They are there so you can judge for yourself, and you can check every payment in your own Stripe dashboard.
How it works
- Run the free Leak Check. Read three or four totals from your own Stripe Dashboard (failed payments, recovered payments and your average payment, last 90 days) and type them into our Leak Check. The math runs in your browser. We get no access and see none of your numbers.
- Tell us your band, if you like. Reply to our email or write to hello@renewvane.com with your band only. A connected audit with exact numbers is coming later, and only ever through a secure page on our own site if you choose to connect. Never by sending a key in an email. How we handle access.
- See if you qualify, once the paid service opens. If about $2,500 a month or more of your payments fail, across at least 20 failed payments a month, we offer a 30 day free trial. Between about $1,500 and $2,500 a month (still with 20 or more failed payments) you can start the trial too, but we tell you plainly that payback is uncertain. Stripe asks for a card; you are not charged if you cancel before the trial ends. Below that, we tell you plainly that it is not worth it yet, show no checkout, and offer a free re check in 60 days.
- Review the emails, then turn on recovery. Up to four plain text emails over about ten days, in your name. A separate track for "your bank needs a confirmation". They stop the moment the invoice is paid.
- Get a monthly proof report. Both groups, both rates, the measured lift, the safety margin, the evidence check and the value compared with your $49 plan. It becomes final 21 days after the month ends. A measured result needs about 20 holdout invoices that are at least 21 days old, so at 20 to 50 failed payments a month the first measured result usually takes a few months. Until then the report shows the raw numbers.
Who this is for, and who it is not for
It fits small subscription software companies that bill through Stripe, with self serve plans and a real monthly leak after Stripe's own retries.
It is probably not worth $49 a month if your Leak Check shows less than about $1,500 a month of failed payments, or fewer than 20 failed payments a month. Then Stripe's own tools are likely enough, the Leak Check says so, and we do not offer the plan.
We are new. We have no customer logos or testimonials to show you yet, and we will not invent any. What we can show you is your own number.
Start with the free Leak Check
Type three or four totals from your own Stripe Dashboard and see whether a $49 a month plan would likely pay for itself. It runs in your browser: no sign up, no Stripe key, and your numbers are never sent to us.
The paid recovery service is not open yet. Nothing on this site signs you up, takes payment or connects to Stripe. Email hello@renewvane.com to hear when the paid service opens.
Never put a Stripe key in an email to us. We will never ask for one.
